Runners, walkers and supporters of the Frisco Education Foundation may sign up online for the Foundation’s Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union Gary Burns Fun Run at getmeregistered.com/FriscoRun.
The popular race benefiting the Frisco Education Foundation will be held Saturday, October 24 at Toyota Stadium. This is the 16th year for the Fun Run, which continues to be one of the largest community events in Frisco, with more than 5,000 participants last year. It is named in honor of the late City of Frisco Assistant Fire Chief Gary Burns, an avid runner and longtime friend of Frisco ISD.
This year, the one-mile walk/run begins at 8 a.m. and the USA Track and Field (USTAF)-sanctioned 5K begins at 8:30 a.m. Hundreds of volunteers will be on hand to help with the race that day. The family-friendly event also features games, booths, live music, snacks and activities for the entire family.
FEF and Frisco ISD are very proud to announce that this year’s title sponsor is Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union. Sports Authority has also signed on as packet pick-up sponsor.
Registration is $15 for students and $25 for adults through October 11. Following that date, the cost of registration goes up to $30 for adults, but remains $15 for students. Registration on race day is $35 for adults and $20 for students.
“The Gary Burns Fun Run continues to be our largest fundraiser,” said Foundation Director Allison Miller. “This will be the 16thopportunity for the Frisco ISD community and others to come together to make a difference in the lives of our students by participating in the race. We know from feedback we hear from students who have successfully completed college and are working in their chosen fields that scholarships change lives. A student who receives support from FEF knows that the community expects great things of him or her. This is an investment in the future.”
Since 1999, the non-profit has awarded more than $3,660,000 in college scholarships to 4,200 graduating seniors and more than $470,000 to educators to fund innovative ideas that benefit teaching and learning in the classroom.
