Gary Burns Fun Run

The Frisco Education Foundation Gary Burns Annual Fun Run is a one-mile fun run/walk and 5K certified race held at Toyota Stadium. Each year, the event features food, entertainment and other family-friendly activities, including a guest appearance by the City of Frisco Fire Clowns.
The event is named for former Frisco Assistant Fire Chief Gary Burns, who died of colon cancer in 1999. Burns was known for his support of students and often donated clothing, athletic equipment, money, meals and time to help less fortunate children in our community.
Proceeds from the Fun Run benefit scholarship opportunities for Frisco ISD students, including the Gary Burns Memorial Scholarship Fund, and innovative teacher grants that support teaching and learning in the classroom.
Each year, FEF partners with the City of Frisco Environmental Services Department to limit trash and encourage the use of recycle bins and compost containers during the Fun Run. The effort saves hundreds of pounds of recyclable and compostable materials from being diverted from the landfill.
Please register at this LINK
This year three of our Anderson students will also be talking about FUTP60 on the main stage at 9:00.

100 Mile Sock It to Harvey Event!

The 100 Mile Clubs around the nation are picking a  Houston sister school to send socks to.   Anderson has adopted Mrs. Lauren Bundy’s school since she was  a former Anderson teacher.  We look forward to supporting this effort and touching the lives of the people who were impacted.  Please have students bring their “Sock it to 2 Harvey” sock donation by the 15th of September and place in collection boxes in the office and by the gym.
Thank you for all of your help and support!   We appreciate our Anderson Nation Family!

Please Support WOW!

This Anderson Family was touched unexpectedly by Wilson’s Disease on Christmas Day 2015 when my oldest daughter suddenly began showing signs of liver failure.  She was admitted to the hospital and experienced numerous complications before passing away on January 19, 2016.  Due to the complications and the advanced liver and kidney failure, we did not receive a diagnosis of Wilson’s Disease until after she died.  Elise was 12 years old.
After her death and diagnosis, Elise’s three younger siblings were all tested and two of them were also diagnosed with Wilson’s Disease.  My 10-year-old daughter Karina and 9-year-old son Jonah are both currently undergoing chelation therapy and are doing well.
We are sponsoring this walk to raise awareness of Wilson’s Disease and to build a support network for those battling this life-long disease.
